(View from my apartment at 25 Columbia st Owned by Matt Sullivan. Took him 3 months to repair, paint after I reported him to Code enforcement. They forced him to cure. His quick fix..spray paint.. No lie! What a dirt bag.)

Owned by bullyIng Matt Sullivan who took to court to recoup my security he kept and money for damages from bugs, rodents in his  building he didn't control. Court decision still pending.

Been at new place across from library owned by  Ed  Kingsley since July 15th. Three months in, he asks me to leave.

Turns out, is a pattern. Does this to people. Had several prior tenants did this to according to neighbors. 3 come to mind. Unfair and a waste of time and money.

Some people should not be landlords. They also should come with warning labels! I would not have moved in had I known this.

I have a year lease and cured what complained of so had no grounds for eviction. I am also getting an aide to maintain apartment the way he wants so I feel he will back off, eventually. Thank God! Section 8 will also play ball and continue to pay him as long as am housed despite his complaints of my housekeeping to them.

 My apartment...skills. Humble. Not better homes and gardens but...Not a dump either!

Not sure why people make trouble for others rather than working with. All had to do was give me a 10 day cure or quit notice that is standard with THE programs. All this unpleasantness could have been avoided. Duh!

Mice in my apartment going on 2 weeks now...

Exterminator comes every other month for roaches allegedly. puts some gel under sink in kitchen and bath room. told set off traps in building. doubt even bothered. landlord matt sullivan is a mean, bullying slumlord. I complained to code enforcement about clog in bath room sink for two weeks that had told super about and went unfixed until code sited them to do so. he also filled in holes around pipes in kitchen and bathroom floors after 7 months which is how mice got in. just like twisting things around and blaming me for bringing or atleast attracting bed bugsand not treating so i had to at own expense though i rent and landlord's responsibility..same now with mice, am being blamed for giving them places to hide as have alot of belongings. exterminator who works for landlord stated myn apt. was on verge of a hoard and he couldn't exterminate properly as stuff all over. code officer came took pictures and said can't site if landlord can't do job. landlord,Gus,super, jim who lives here and does little,section 8,advocate for me,codes all stick together. if went to court, i would end up getting evicted as looks bad for meas have noone on my side. Is making me sick living here as smells like a gerbil cage. i feel nauseous often from mice running on my tables behind me on couch near my bed when i sleep. i woke to mouse up on hook clothes were hanging on with his head in bag of dog food hund up there from him. already ate $15, 3 bags of dog food. bait put down made my dog ill,vomit,diarrhea...am at wit's end. feel so trapped here. section 8 says mmove but have no move $$$ and no deposit to hold a place and landlord has security. i have looked but can't afford anything either. There is such corruption here as they all stick together,don't care about anyone but selves and own. police have even stopped coming here as here so often for noise complaints,etc as neighbors have no regard or consideration. i sleep to music and take sleep medicine now. Is how life is if poor as few choices. am poor as have health problems,RA,chronic pain so don't work but per diem if do an occasional fair as a vendor but don't drive, no car, no help,take cdta bus to events and can't board with table and many events say bring own, also want fees that can be high. tried some online selling sites that were scams and just a waste of time. Cohoes got some money to supposedly improve town and life for it's people but are only the chosen few as usual here. all on the take. corrupt. town officials such as council men are supposed to serve public not themselves. what all do is self serving. poor get poorer and well off get more so. huge rift between the two. in different worlds with very different outlooks of life here. if have a job,able bodied,are married with family, childen, money, a car, a house, fine things, get to go on vacation, have people watching your back, life is very different than if are on disability, alone, poor, don't work as little opportunity and power. Bullies here stick together. Just hope will go away. will gladly just give me a one way ticket and some money to. thank you very much!! Cohoes proud, a city that cares, yeh right!! what a crock of shit. I've got a few tricks up my sleeve yet so let the chips fall where they may. I am a very honest pwerson. i believe if I keep doing the next sober right thing, it will all work out. I put God first and put this mess in his hands as too much for me.

I got  hit in the side of my head last Wednesday eve, june 22, 2016 with the front door to my building have an apt. renting at. I have a concussion. Let landlord know. Asked that he fix door that hasn't shut in weeks. He sad shuts fine and would get to it in order of priority. Tells me if outside to stand or sit away from it when step is by it!

That is when called Code Enforcement and complained. Guess they called him as door was fixed the end of that day. Three business days later, i received a 60 day notice to vacate the apartment have. Retaliation? You bet! He lives in Schenectady with his mommy and daddy though is about 40. Only time comes to property is to get rent or fix apt on top floor he plans to live in at some point.

When I got injured, I had just swept stairs,halls, as got sick of seeing the dust balls as he never does them,cut the hedges,pulled weeds,painted pillar fell over last year and got two black eyes as landed on my face(told him needed to be painted and he did nothing). I am the only one who brings in the garbage pail and recyclable bins,shuts off lights and lets him know if something happens or if a repair is needed.

Yes it makes perfect sense that i should be the one being thrown out,smirk. Meanwhile i have neighbors down stairs with two pit bulls. one leaps against door daily as pass with my dog. Recently the big brute almost got through a window that had plexiglass in it. half of his body was out trying to get at my elderly dog. Told landlord who didn't return my call. Neighbors down stairs left window bent.

I called animal control as didn't want my dog bit and window was fixed. Pilot light went out in my apartment and I had no heat the first day got cold this past winter. landlord didn't come out and help me until next evening even though had been upstairs for hours. let me freeze. Place is uninsulated so can't shower in winter but have to quickly hand wash at sink.

His father said can't do repairs with me there but can when am gone and then can raise rent. Part of why wanted me out. Rent is $550 and i have section 8. My advocate and lady from Section 8 won't be back until Tuesday. Hope can work with him while I look for a place to give me time. Also would like to hear why he wants me gone.

He had said I should have asked him before put yellow paint on small step and pillars that go to ankle and knee. Also said I needed to move my bike,cart use to walk from by stairs. Yes all of a sudden such an issue. I brought other things up to apartment but that. My head hurts. Anyways, been looking but landlords don't return my calls or emails. Am worried will end up in homeless shelter again with bullying sociopaths, like last time. Made me very symptomatic.

Mayor Shawn Morse recently spoke that Cohoes was on it's way to becoming an 'all American town'. To be an 'All American', it needs to serve all it's citizens,, not just those with good jobs and some money. Some work but are poor. Sadly can't afford to live in nice housing but are decent,law abiding people who are quiet and don't cause trouble.

Due to plans for economic development, Shawn's view was things are improving For some they are. For others it's business as usual. I have sold my jewelry and gently used items at events in the past here until I was bullied by grown women and their gossip They were other vendors. Many in this town are equally mean and do the same thing, even though don't know me and all i do. listen to here say. Fear and then anger permeate this town like a cancer.

It is for these reasons, i didn't pursue getting a vendor license at city hall, but went to other events out of town,write on line, do private sale and ebay. of course not all are like this here. If you want this town to be better than it's inhabitants need an attitude adjustment. 'Idleness is the devil's play ground'. Many here have way too much time on their hands to being taken other people's inventory. Live and let live. mind my biz are great AA slogans that apply to all. I keep to self and ignore them as like gnats. Negative and do nothing with selves.

Side walks need paving and cleaning as do streets and of course lower rents on Remsen to attract business. Making Cohoes a town that wecomes all and not just WHITE people who fit the status quo, would greatly improve it and make it 'All American'. Until that day comes, the poor reputation of Cohoes will remain just as the rude,ignorant,mean people who are here.

Update since this post on housing in Cohoes. Still in this town but moved to 25 Columbia st. next to laundry mat. Bugs and bad nisy neighbors in building.for months land lord matt did nothing but get rent. typical. now one bad egg going. notice dumpsters around as have t evict tenants , gut, get new ones, repeat as don't screen. ugh. waste money, time. high recidivision rate.

So despite all my trying to get my apt. up to snuff(friend from MA. made 4 trips to storage, took me to do 2 loads of wash, I patd neighbor $100. to clean for 10 hours!), it didn't pass HATAS'(homeless and traveler's aid) inspection. No specifics on what need to do to pass. They commented on kitchen table and items on it and below it. I said, have no shelving or closet to put them on or in. they didn't want to hear my 'excuses' and will not help move me as said should have been bagged up(all) not most of things. not what was told.  Had cat and no pets in lease. Am going to get doctor note need her. Also they won't ask Judd to stop eviction but are leaving me hanging but will pay subsidy while housed. Did my best and can do more when friend Bill comes next month on 6/4 before house inspection again by building dept. on the 9th. trying. legal aide takes my case on 5/14. My worker tells me landlord can do as pleases as his place. Not so if paid up and have another year on lease as I do! Tenants have rights too. Sad an agency like HATAS, that is designed to protect the poor, downtrodden, vulnerable, doesn't.

Got 30 day notice from my slummy, landlord. See, I have a lot of things in my place so he says is a fire hazard. not really. Went and got a storage locker, put two car loads of things in it, had it professionally cleaned, straightened up for $80, friend's cat who was visiting and they complained about going, pick up after dog, they said don't so am trying. should have gotten a 10 day 'cure or quit' notice as paid up on rent and have another year on lease. May see a place today.

Friend's landlord tried to make me leave..

No spam. Thanks! as was traveling with service dog. I called cops after telling him to leave as my dog is a service dog not a pet as you know. Cop saw papers and told him could stay. Landlord said would take me to civil court and would file claim Monday which is a holiday in Mass. so will be closed. What a jerk! Next time visited,same thing happened,only when cop came out, he said if come again he will be arrested for harrassment,a criminal,not civil matter. Now just need to let him know prior to visits and all is Aok.

Still looking for a new home. I am on top of the list for section 8 which could supplement my rent where am and have an appointment with them in Catskill on Tuesday. wish me luck. Had offered to take the empty but now rented 1 BR cottage with garage,next door,put things in garage out of sight,affordabley but landlord refused. Yet she complains of my things outside. I can't afford to pay anyone to remove it to a storage site or pay for one so there it stays. despite saying she would let me stay if paid her which did,back due money,she still wants me out and is threatening court action.
